An Air Grille is a specialized component designed to allow controlled air circulation through a fire-rated door while maintaining its fire-resistance integrity. It typically includes an intumescent grille or vent that remains open under normal conditions to permit airflow.
In the event of a fire, the intumescent material within the kit expands when exposed to high heat, sealing the vent to prevent the spread of flames, smoke, and toxic gases through the door. These kits are commonly used in buildings where air circulation is needed, such as in HVAC systems, without compromising fire safety regulations.
Air grilles can be 'fire-rated' or 'non fire-rated'.
